About

Manual do Usuário (“User’s Guide” in Portuguese) is just another tech blog and a cool spot on the web.

Here, I dive into topics that pique my interest in this space, like non-commercial technologies, digital privacy, fun facts, and handy tips. I also try to give a voice to subjects that other specialized outlets tend to overlook.

What else?

Manual do Usuário is a blog — meaning it’s opinionated — crafted with journalistic rigor but without the pressure of real-time urgency or rigid formats. I follow the “slow web” philosophy.

I launched it in 2013 after spending some time as a reporter for the Brazilian edition of Gizmodo. In 2023, I started translating some posts into English to reach a broader, global audience — initially on a separate blog. At the beginning of 2025, I decided to bring both languages under one roof at manualdousuario.net.

Posts are originally written in Portuguese and then translated into English with the help of translation tools. Every translation is reviewed by me; no text is published until it’s been given a human once-over.

Who’s in charge?

It’s me, Rodrigo Ghedin! I’m a journalist living in Curitiba, in the Southern state of Paraná, Brazil. I’ve been in other newsrooms, always covering technology, business, and related areas.

I founded Manual do Usuário in 2013 and have been editing it since then. By the end of 2018, this project became my primary — and almost my only — professional focus.

I love getting to know and chatting with readers. Feel free to send me an email (preferred), or just say hi on Signal.
